Gunnva’s music draws on both Nordic and international inspirations and combines warm vocals with an organic sound, acoustic guitar, slide guitar, and strong melodies.

Her sound places her within the modern Nordic folk-pop universe, and her music can be compared to artists such as Mina Okabe, Fleetwood Mac, Lizzy McAlpine, and Pernille Rosendahl.

Gunnva debuts with her first album, which is released on October 31, 2025. She has created a unique sound that moves within the intersection of pop and folk, which is clearly evident on her debut album. The first single, In My Heart, released on April 4, is an organic and melodic song that tells the story of taking responsibility for one’s own life. The single has already achieved airplay on P5 within a month.

Several songs from the album have also been in rotation on Danish national radio, and Monochrome has been featured in music magazines such as Gaffa, Buzzslayers, Pulsmagasinet and Nordic Music Central.

Gunnva was born and raised just outside Frederikshavn in a Faroese family where music was always an integral part of everyday life. Her father played in a band in the Faroe Islands, and through him, she learned to sing and play. As an adult, Gunnva uses music to put words to her experiences that have shaped her — a process that has helped her work through both loss and trauma.

The album MONOCHROME is produced by Victor Kiowsky Søylund (known for work with Tim Schou, Karen Mukupa, and Eddie Chacon, among others). Victor has worked closely with Gunnva throughout the process, as they have intensely collaborated to create a sonic universe that reflects the depth and nuances of her storytelling. This collaboration has been crucial in shaping the album’s unique sound and ensuring that each song exudes Gunnva’s personal musical identity.

MONOCHROME carries deep nuances and stories from Gunnva’s own life, with themes such as loss, faith, and love — in both its joy and pain.
